Mixtape Monday: Sea Thousands
March 22nd, 2010 |

The fact that I haven’t posted any Kidkanevil so far, is due to indecision about what I like of his best. The irony here is that I’m posting a Kidkanevil mix that only includes a scant 2 songs of his (one being a remix of the other)… which only means there is probably more to come. Enjoy. Mix originally from the mighty dublab.

Lullatone – The Bedtime Beatbox
Jay Electronica – Exhibit A (Transformations)
Illum Sphere – Agent White version 1
Eliphino – Don’t Try Be VIP version 2
Om Unit – Lightgrids
Dibiase – Spacely Sprocketts
Robot Koch – Gorom Sen (Shlohmo remix)
Ratatat – Mirando / Tweet – Call Me Acapella
Sonicbrat – Audiography 004
Stateless – Visions
Asura – Feathers
Kraddy – Andriod Porn (Fulgeance remix)
Taprikk Sweezee – Volt version 09
Peter Digital Orchestra – Born In 1980
Debruit – Pouls
Blue Daisy – Hunterz
Gonjasufi – Candycanelane
Bullion – Crazy Over You
kidkanevil – Megajoy
kidkanevil – Megajoy (Tokimonsta unsound bliss remix)
Starkey – Knob Twiddler
American Men – We Await Silent Tristero’s Empire
Secret Of Mana OST – I Closed My Eyes

I have always been amazed at the way an ordinary observer lends so much more credence and attaches so much more importance to waking events than to those occurring in dreams… Man… is above all the plaything of his memory. – Andre Breton

Icarus is told to have flown too close to the sun while escaping Crete with his father Daedalus ( creator of a wide dancing-ground for Ariadne) falling to the ground. Routinely used as a symbol of loss of joy, faith, or a return to stark reality which I think completely misses the larger idea, that I can fly with wax wings. Awesome!  Actually, some interpretations have them escaping by a boat with the first sail, and flying across water “as a bird” continues to be a common metaphor for a boat “carried” by wind.

Aesop Rock never really did much for me. Blasphemy to many of you I’m sure, but it just didn’t resonate with me when it was with everyone else. Call it timing. However, I’ll change my thinking whenever I please as new evidence becomes available. And I’ve got a little something something for this song. Fables.

I could spend my whole life prying loose the secrets of the insane. These people are honest to a fault, and their naivety has no peer but my own. – Breton

The definition of fingerbanger is what I’m banging into my head this week, and this Boy 8-bit remix is damn it all spot on the definition.

Hayden Quinn ( of Paqman) breaks down what those of us with ears have been saying for a while. Though, to be fair, dance music has been cut and paste for a long time. Pop music has formulas too. But yeah… preaching to the choir I suppose.

It is living and ceasing to live that are imaginary solutions. Existence is elsewhere. – Andre Breton

The Joy Division isn’t something for everyone, in the same way that minimalism is cool, but hard to adopt into functional living. You either get it, or you pretend to because they are iconic. And if you just like the cool iconography, you’re probably better off.

I couldn’t make up my decision today. 1979 “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now”, was a cover of McFadden & Whitehead’s title. “I’m Caught Up (In A One Night Love Affair)” was a cover of a song by Inner Life (originally sung by Jocelyn Brown)… Copy and Paste provided by P.tone.

Fingerbanger Friday: War Clover

In the world of infinite, timing isn’t everything. But it’s damn important. Every story includes the invisible hand of timing; tales of success, failure, love, hate, buying, selling, right place at the wrong time… but there is only one message, and that is that timing can’t be predicted. You bet on each moment and if you over or under bet, you get the rewards of personal responsibility. Every regret filled tale is a could have, should have, would have… except… but…someone, something. The second ingredient to regret is blame. It’s virtually impossible to be content when happiness (and conversely, unhappiness) is at the whim of a chaotic universe. Selfish decisions always have the most regret, because the average person has an aversions to accepting their sadness is due to their fear of being unhappy. Living for the next momentary happiness is an endless quest for fleeting enjoyment. A cyclical thinking that takes a lot of courage to confront. The lesson for each person is unique, but it always seems to be telling them to do something different, look deeper, take action in a direction. In other words, follow your bliss.

I know plenty of people with a 4 finger hand. My dad being one of them, so 4 fingers today because not everything is ideals.

I’ve posted up some Health before, I’m sure of it.  I always seems to resonate with this melodic throbbing, if as it were a damp morning air sweeping up the side of my ears; pushing forward into the clear.

A good while ago I listened to BMSR too much too often, and burned myself out, so I’ve never felt the desire to post any. However, they are sick. Pretty much the same thing can be said of AIR, although I still got love for Premiers Symptomes, I burned out on them. However, this song is a golden ticket, although I like copper better since it gets the cool green tarnish. This takes that whispy sing sang sung track and puts some teeth in it. Nom Nom.

I should have moved this track up and made this post more cohesive, but I’m not doing it. Oh No Ono makes some pretty pop music with disturbed undertones, and Caribou seems to pick up on that and … well… caribou it. Montauk for everyone else.

After a while I realize I’ve done it again, I just stop looking before I cross the street, and I ride every wave I can taste, every tree with a little snow on it, every stupid curb looks fun again, and I realize I don’t care anymore, and its liberating to rip open the onion skin sky with movement.
