Continents is the solo project of Kansas City native Jim Button with a ever revolving cast of musicians that make up his full live band. While Continents debut album Land of Plenty came out last year we felt like it never got the attention that it should. That is why we are re-releasing the album this summer and starting our push with our $2.00 album sale (buy here). – The Record Machine

On a whole, I don’t believe there is anything humans dislike more than the unknown. Laws are attempts to control behaviors, or to establish rights.  Gods and divinity are just attempts to answer the uncertainty; nothing has changed. Scientific Method is crucial to the discovery of almost anything tangible. There is this notion that the more we know, the less unknown there is. Its a gigantic fool of an idea, but it catches everyone off guard as logic. There’s no way to distinguish what is knowledge with what is true. So the unknown grows exponentially to our belief that we can know something.  – One Divine Raptor

In no way do I discredit any “scientific advancement”. But I think there is a universal truth in that quote.

No doubt that James Blake ten toes into a career where he gets to create his own rules. Does he know what that means? I doubt it. In a sense, I hope he never does because sometimes that idea can burst the one that just says, “I’m into this sound” (vs. one that says, “what should I be into?”).  So what does that say about this song? I’m not going to get into it because writing about music has always felt sort of silly to me. It’s like being the kid that knows more about baseball than plays it. I try not to be a pitchfork wannabe.  Buy the whole EP Here

My ol’lappy took a HD crappy on me this week, and I’ve also got a busy day today, so its a little teethy getting this one done. None-the-less… I’ve come through as usual. A few new songs by some of the more well known artists in this fickle flock of music birds.

Extra Classic isn’t well know …Yet. However, these psychedelic dubs can’t remain hidden under your bed forever, eventually everyone is going to smell those skunky buds… and the love fest will begin with a little sativa and a little more saliva.

Also going to throw this more obscure producer in here as sort of a last minute change up. I can’t not give a big nod to NickNack for his solid new release on Crowd Control called “DearlyDeparted“. Somewhat a sample & beats masterpiece, the production is mellow in the key of introspective and delivers a good road worthy companion… just the sort of sounds we like around here

Though by no means unknown, Billy Preston is often one of the more “unsung heros” in music. A child prodigy of piano and organ, his talent was so that by the age of 10 he was performing with several well known gospel music bands and even appeared on Nat “king” Cole’s show to sing a duet with him (seen here).

“In addition to his successful, Grammy Award-winning career as a solo artist, Preston collaborated with some of the greatest names in the music industry, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Band, Nat King Cole, Little Richard, Eric Burdon, Ray Charles, George Harrison, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, King Curtis, Sammy Davis Jr., Aretha Franklin, the Jackson 5, Quincy Jones, Mick Jagger, Richie Sambora, Sly Stone, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ringo Starr. He played the Fender Rhodes electric piano and the Hammond organ on the Get Back sessions in 1969.” – Read it all on Wikipedia
