On a whole, I don’t believe there is anything humans dislike more than the unknown. No doubt that James Blake ten toes into a career where he gets to create his own rules. Does he know what that means? I doubt it. In a sense, I hope he never does because sometimes that idea can burst the one that just says, “I’m into this sound” (vs. one that says, “what should I be into?”).  So what does that say about this song? I’m not going to get into it because writing about music has always felt sort of silly to me. It’s like being the kid that knows more about baseball than plays it. Though by no means unknown, Billy Preston is often one of the more “unsung heros” in music. A child prodigy of piano and organ, his talent was so that by the age of 10 he was performing with several well known gospel music bands and even appeared on Nat “king” Cole’s show to sing a duet with him (seen here).
