I haven’t had many words in the past several weeks/months as I’ve been in unlearning some things. Let me say I’ve had my fair share of frustrations, fears, and failures in recent history and because of that I’ve developed a sincere appreciation for failure. The worst ones have been my best teachers, and my realizations are growth that is mine forever. A sort of alchemy of the soul, perhaps. And it’s because I’m fortunate to understand there is no growth without seeking knowledge that is outside of my current paradigm, that I continue to grow. But I also understand that it’s natural to fear what I perceive could hurt me, and so the natural tendency is to believe that avoidance of failure is proof that I am intelligent. And with in mind, I carefully seek not views and ideas that validate and provide self justification for fears that masquerade as wisdom. I have a crate called Heat & Wheat. Simply explained, it’s the secret hot sauce burners and the best of the zest staples. It’s a compilation of the songs that I have a lot of love for and a lot of gems that show up on this little site has come from that crate: The Cymande, the Faze O, the Debbie Deb… but so far, some things have just been too secret sauce to share. This is one of those stupid rarities. A 45″ that my good friend The Shiek Ackipablo stumbled upon because he (being a record digging nerd as well) was enlightened enough to spot an envelope with the musicians name on it in some small dusty shop, leading to the score… and that my friends is some next-level digging swagger, and he gets all the credit. Ack – it really should be you posting this, so quit being so lazy and get on it. The real deal is the proto-jungle drumming on this shit. Unreal. But even now, as I get ready to publish this, there are really only two reasons for my kindness 1.) To share it with my friends that geek on this as much as I do. 2.)
