Fresh out the box: This first one comes care of DJ Ack. Ack and I use to host a hip hop / funk radio show together a few years back and during one of the shows I played a song by Brand Nubian called “Don’t let it go to your head” which is off the Foundation album. Foundation came out in 98, and I think maybe it had more of an impact on me than Ack, but we both were into that song. Ack dug up the original sample to that song and sent it over, so all credit for this song belongs to him. One caveat to all this is that I can’t listen to the Foundation album without thinking of Erin Herman. So this one is for you.

Fingerbanger 1: Deb Players – Don’t Let It Go To Your Head

Last weekend I was DJing our hips-delux love-a-thon bowling night: a riotous occasion if you have ever been. Meatbag was in effect with the windmill and cheap beer was… cheap. So, Throwing this remix on was maybe the best thing I could have done. I won’t say it was the best song I played, b/c it wasn’t. But it might have been the most memorable… although, in my recollection, the pinky and the brain B-more track was highly under acknowledged. whatever, sleep on this bitches.

I’ve been into this retro/bitwave sound this week. I know you are wondering what the fukk bitwave sounds like… thats cool, I just made that name up. Because if music need something, it’s a new obscure sub-genre that kids can get elitist about. You can thank me later. OK, so pissmonkey and muffin love. Sorrry. College sees to be at the forefront of this new bitwave sound, which is just synthpop but with a new cool ironic name. They team up with ANORAAK on this remix, who is also a bitwave musician, so this is full on sauced and steeped in bitwave juice. I’m just going to keep pushing this bitwave name as much as possible, I’ll be the E40 of hipsters in no-time.

I was just on the Snowden myspace page (here) and was perusing the comments when I say, I do declare, I read a comment from a punk/goth band thanking Snowden for representing “Atliens”. I’m covered in irony right now, it’s sticky and tastes like my love for the classic two brother waitresses (not this new crew). Don’t people know that rules?? Don’t you fukkwers get it? Thats not Quee. I’m swearing a lot today. Thats quee.

Masta Ace in yo face. EMC is a new hiphop collective feat. Ace, Punch, Words and Stricklin. Masta Ace is in my opinion, putting out some of the smartest and most bumpable music right now. Actually, he always has. Slaughterhouse and Sittin’ On Chrome are still heavy rotation material in my world. Masta Ace pauses to take a breath. Drops back in with Disposable Arts and A Long hot Summer… and now teams up with some young hot kids, and doesn’t even sound corny, really, IMO, Ace’s flow is the best it’s ever been. Ace has taken a lot of criticism throughout his career, I think maybe because he doesn’t like to show how much work he puts in and it seems would rather be true to himself than be popular with the “now” crew. Emcees should study this lesson. Masta Ace… NFL is hot. EMC… is hot. Everyone should check this album into their ears. Myspace Here. Buy the new EMC album called “The Show”…Here Or go down to your local shop and cop it.

Fingerbanger 5: EMC – Leak It Out
