I’ve been reading about how the new Groove Armada album Black Light is all like “the dark side” and shit of GA, but really they are just the newest electro crossover. I’m a little dismayed in a sense, just for the contrarian part of me that thinks if everyone is on it, it’s time to get off. The other part of me has always loved both GA & electro, so this would be something I would think might be cool anyhow. Maybe I wasn’t overly impressed with everything, but this song is the Gary Numan spirit incarnate with a little stuffed MGMT crust.

The female Emcee has had brief moments of come-uppance, but like all mens & womens sports, there just isn’t the same love. It’s not that they can’t compete, but that you can’t root against them without feeling like a shmuck. We’re ruthless humans, and we like to hate on the king when we’re not on top, and hate on the underdogs when we are the king, figuratively speaking. Even those (not as hot as everyone thinks) woman nascar drivers fuck up the game. No one cares who finishes first, nascar fans watch cars go in circles upon circles x 100 waiting for someone to fuck up. When a guy dies in his car, they get celebrated as having paid the ultimate price with shitty stickers on ugly pontiac cars. You just can’t root for a woman to crash in the same way… no one wants to see a woman catch a bad one (so to speak). But I digress. The problem is, once in a while there comes along a voice like Jean Grae that splits a headphone just right and has the most flawless delivery, but never seems to “get hers”.  From Natural Resource, to What?What? (with Herbaliser) to Jean Grae… she has always been ‘about’ to blow. I should have just made a whole post on this. oh well.
