Fingerbanger Friday: Real Life
January 23rd, 2009 |

Widely felt, universally acknowledged, and yet so elusive that to feel it truly is a treasure that so many write about it, sing about it, dance in it, wish for it, build temples to it, search the whole world for it, get the whole world for it, give the whole world for it… live for it, and die for it. What an amazing thing. Yet much of it goes misunderstood, while much of it goes unappreciated, its hard to imagine which is worse.

I’m at an age now where it’s no longer surprising when musicians are younger than I am and putting out amazing sounds. Rico Püstel aka dinamoe is all of 21 and has quite a list of releases, and a mature minimal house sound that echos of Detroit’s finest, taking us all back to the days when records were records, and parties were in empty warehouses. Buy Rico at Beatport here.

More minimal sounds today, this time from the UK duo Swayzak. Most don’t associate minimal with emotional, which is where swayzak catches you off and proceedes to give you immense evolving sounds to flow through your headphones (which I reccomend). If you’ve ever searched for perfect sounds to watch a storm build to, you might want to give these masters of production a try. this song is off of Loops from the Bergerie, but you can listen to and buy more off Amazon here. A long time ago favorite, just because. Some kids threw garbage, or talked on the bus to school, I listened to Photek.

I apologize to those that were mad at me for splitting right after my set last Saturday, but to make up for it I’m posting my last song from my set tha night. Not too many can match the vocal rawness that Nina Simone gave us, and Felix da Housecat is..uh.. house at it’s warm finest.

Fingerbanger 4: Nina Simone – Sinnerman (Felix da Housecat Mix)

I’m posting this because while I was sitting on my couch this morning I was trying to think myself out of some bumminess and this song came into my head, so when in doubt, go with the gut. Maybe someone else will enjoy it too. idk.

Fingerbanger 5: The Beatles – Here Comes The Sun

In this video at 2:42 is my favorite version of Here Comes The Sun as sang by a homeless man with a guitar (and Rick Howard). this is the end credits from Plan B video Virtual Reality, but without the overdubbed music. For anyone that grew up skating, this holds a place in our hearts, I don’t think I’ve ever seen more kids have more fun… strongly encourage you to check it out.

Over End Out P.tone
