Confucius is often credited with giving us the “golden rule”, that  “What one does not wish for oneself, one ought not to do to anyone else; what one recognizes as desirable for oneself, one ought to be willing to grant to others.” Forged with the word that is ‘Shu’ or ‘reciprocity’, it asks us to consider others before ourselves as we consider ourselves, although the word has a meaning in Chinese that is larger than the definition.

Ashtech
‘s dubby wayback sound is good wandering about music, parleyed to us through his album Walking Target, there’s enough experimental ambiance in here mellow out all night. Official Ashtech website.

I have a hard time thinking dubstep gets a lot of love in warm weather climates. It’s doesn’t strike me as a sound that kids in St. Tropez are bumping in their … jeeps? which strikes me as a bit ironic since dub is… well… a warm climate sort of thing. But for the rest of us in those more unfavorable climates, some of these sounds are more familiar. Distance is an original dubstep innovator, blogger, and his album My Demons is full of this sound…

I picked up on this Niney the Observer recently… and was jammin out, when at 57  to 105 seconds into the song I was struck by a particular feeling. One of those… HUH? oh.. really? moments where my heart skips and my fingers feel dusty like I’ve cracked tomb of secrecy, not like when Geraldo Rivera cracked Capones Vault on TV (you thought I’d forget Geraldo, I CANT, I WONT!), but something a little more Dr. Livingston… I’m not saying this is a for sure sample spot, but… you know… you know…

So here we are. You and Me. Me and You. Together at the end… funny how it always works out like this. Curious really. We start two separate individuals at the beginning, I talk a little about whatever I get to say, you listen to me, to the sounds I got to give. Then we end up here, at the end, where you give back to me. you comment, you email, you tell me what you like and it shows in my download bandwidth. So I give you all a little something special, my new years warming present… something to get it off to a good start…the Uniques.
