We’re nothing but good ol’dais music and things that may or may not have been directly influenced by Malcolm McLaren. I’d say yea.

This song has been about 50% of everything I’ve been listening to for the past week. The other 50% is my inner voice telling me to stop staring at asses in yoga pants.

The bassline is a goddamn time travel machine to sunny days of being young, dumb, and happily full of hugs/drugs/IDGAF. Anyone that doesn’t feel good listening to this is because their idea of a good time is weekly free hotdogs at the corner bar while re-vomiting whatever they heard on Fox news that week.

This was also released as the Debbie Gibson – One Step Ahead (Masters At Work Dub), but I completely understand MAW wanting to distance themselves from that and releasing it again later with a different name. Even the mention of Gibson makes my stomach turn as pleated denim skirts swirl nauseatingly around in my head to the sound of her shit music.  And I get that 80’s fashion shit is ever so trendy right now as kids chase ever new heights of looking as insecure as they feel in an attempt to “be ironic” and get laid without having to have self esteem… but when indie fashion looks like the old Wilson Phillips Self Titled album cover, something is fucking wrong.

Lets say that you go to work one day and the boss assigns your team and a co-worker’s team to a job. The job is a large project to enhance the lives of the company’s workers. The success of the job will determine who will be the next company CEO as decided by the employees. As you see it, if the project is successful your co-worker will be the next CEO. However, if the project fails you will be the next CEO. Of course you can’t outright work against the project because employees won’t allow a new CEO that sabotages a project designed to help them, so you have to look like you’re helping when in reality you’re not.

One concern everyone has is that if project gets too big it could ultimately bring down the company and all the employees jobs with it. You realize that this is your best shot to work against the project while appearing to work for the project. However, you also realize that if the project does get too big and brings down the whole company that you’ll likely never have to compete for CEO again since your team will appear to have been right all along. So you work against enhancing the lives of the workers by saying you’re trying to keep the project small to make sure they will still have a job, all the while spending the company bankrupt on big contracts (to businesses that you own shares in) saying that all overspending is the other team’s fault and since you’re against over spending then whatever spending you do must be necessary.

Oh, one last thing… you never really cared about being CEO in the first place because someone promised you a job and shares at a competing business and the failure of the company you’re “working for” means when it fails, the other company will own the market (your shares will reap millions) and those shit peon employees will be so happy just to have a job that you’ll never have to spend an extra dollar on enhancing their lives ever again.

Either way, you win.
