Every generation seems to have its mantra that it pumps into every argument as the panacea for what is wrong with the world. These are often so morally pure and generic that they can be used by all for whatever their purpose may be. For a long time the rallying cry was, “do it for the kids”.  I dare you to try and go against that. Seen for what it is, the religious value system morality banner, this has become cliche as the new generation refuses to grow past identifying themselves as perpetually young. Youth have no need to protect the youth. Today, the new rally cry is all about the environment… Going Green Organic Sustainable Conservation Global Climate Change.Yeah, you can’t really argue against this. Not that you should try, as a rule we should always error on the side of caution when it comes to the damages we’re doing. Yes, stop shitting up the planet. But I’m fucking sick of the commodification of  ‘going green’ for the white savior emotional sentiment. Specially packaged in bio-degradable reusable triple recycled plastic to make you feel good about the fact that your carbon footprint is soooo much better than your next door neighbors. You’re different. You’re aware. You’re saving the planet with your consumption, and the more you buy the more you save. (In business the idea is: We’re losing money on each item, but we’ll make it up in volume). You’re not the problem, you’re the solution. Good on you. But energy is the new currency, and sustainability is going to get monetized until it’s meaningless; cliche.  Don’t believe me? How about you Save the Rainforests or Feed a Third World Child for a Day.

But yes, buy organic; it just tastes better.

Jalapeno Records is at the epicentre of the UK’s funkiest dance labels… so they say. They also call this a ‘percussive hypnotic ragga bomb’ and thats pretty much right on, so maybe they are.

A woman’s shoulders are the front lines of her mystique, and her neck, if she’s alive, has all the mystery of a border town. A no-man’s land in that battle between the mind and the body.

Equinox Records deserves a place in your mind of relevant labels that have been killing it softly for a good while now. I’ve featured many of their artists, and I’ll continue to support. You should too.

Even the idea of getting back to nature isn’t new. It’s been a concern since nature was still nature, and the wild-frontier was still a wild frontier. They hardly had electric and they already felt detached.
