Throwback Thursday: Heavy Mental
October 20th, 2011 |

B-boys, producers, or funk aficionados…when it comes to breaks, few are as celebrated as the Hihache drums, a distinct  kick /snare with a hi hat that draws to resemble the name of the song (IMO). Perhaps the breaks popularity is due to their conspicuous placement at the beginning of a funk burner, easy to spot, juggle or loop, or perhaps it due to their ability to take on multiple personalities and fit the mood; likely a combination of the two… the result is the same, the foundation of some of the most loved classic hip hop songs, and maybe more spectacularly, a spot on djnodj’s Throwback Thursdays.
