Tuesday Tonic: Plum Rain
October 25th, 2011 |

I like getting emails from the Tru Thoughts guys, because it’s always legit. Not to mention they address me by name. When people send promos to Dj nodj, I’m deleting that shit. So I appreciate what they do, and I think they appreciate what I do, so I don’t mind promo ho-ing their stuff and all is good. Another thing that is good is Anchorsong.

Anchorsong, the solo project of Masaaki Yoshida, is a UK-based Japanese musician with a unique approach to live electronic performance. He creates instrumental electronic music using a sampler and keyboard right there on stage in real-time, favouring the immediacy and theatricality of this approach over using pre-recorded melodies or mixing other people’s records. (straight jacked copy, I’m busy here)

‘Ghost Touch’/’Plum Rain’, out on 24th October, is the new digital single by the hotly tipped Japanese multi-instrumentalist and producer Anchorsong, on Tru Thoughts. This double A-side provides a taste of the captivating debut album, ‘Chapters’, which follows in November. BBC Radio 1’s new music guru Huw Stephens, who has heartily championed Anchorsong since seeing him at SXSW in 2009, recently gave ‘Ghost Touch’ its first Radio 1 play alongside an announcement of the record deal, fuelling anticipation for this new material.

The B side to this single is Plum Rain which is released today as a free download here :http://www.tru-thoughts.co.uk/news/free-anchorsong-track

Beastly live show. When can I go see this?

There’s nothing special about Cosmobile, is there? Three ordinary-looking guys from Finland with guitars and a small drum kit.  Why should anyone care?

Continents is the solo project of Kansas City native Jim Button with a ever revolving cast of musicians that make up his full live band. While Continents debut album Land of Plenty came out last year we felt like it never got the attention that it should. That is why we are re-releasing the album this summer and starting our push with our $2.00 album sale (buy here). – The Record Machine

If it ever stops raining for more than 12 hours, I’ll still be swimming through the humidity. If we would have got 1/4 this amount of precipitation this past winter I could forgive it now. Easily one of my favorite pieces by Byrd. Duuummmmeeee…..

…And I don’t know why the heartbreakingest things are the ones that go the distance – that get closest to meeting and shaking me. And they’re not the balance of life of course; but somehow it is the plain and somber things that you’ll remember and ponder on late at night when the wind kicks up along  your bedside window or you’re driving in to work in that sweet spring morning coma – hypnotized by the proud new leaves and the vines revived and the honeysuckle. So young amidst all those aging words and photographs – Erica @ Been Thinking (beenthinking.tumblr.com)
