But let me refresh, in 1994 before Buhloone Mindstate dropped, De La gave away 500 clear audio imprinted pieces of vinyl magic (some cds too) to a select group of DJs featuring 4 songs from their upcoming album, and 2 non album tracks this known as the Clear Lake Audiotorium EP. The scarcity has made this a must have for serious hiphop collectors with deep pockets, but we here at djnodj.com aren’t that picky. So here are the 2 non-album tracks from that record. The other ones you need to buy Buhloone Mindstate for, because that album is worth it. Enjoyeee.

Things like this caused kids like me to spend years of hours trying to get crabs. I think I did more flairs on accident than on purpose, and the DMC’s never came into my bedroom unless it was on video. However, I can totally put stickers on my doubles and shit. The best part of it all, was the DJ atmosphere back then. It was technical, and funky, and competitive, and old and new and classic and blowing minds daily. but maybe its one of those, you had to be there things.

This was probably made in 94, and it still bangs like a head on collision.

It isn’t often I care to do a tuesday post, but I came across this mr. scruff “megamix” this morning and thought, it’s not like a mixtape because it’s mostly from one album, and it’s not like a song cuz it’s pretty long (20 min.)… so what the fuck do I do? YEp. titties out this mix.

Now, the lo-down on the don lowed is that this megamix is to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of Mr Scruffs debut album Keep It Unreal. If you don’t know this album, then do your ears a favor and listen to this mix of much of the albums highlights (plus some bonus material), then go out and buy it. My opinion is that this was Scuffs most solid and imaginative effort, his follow up music seemed too self conscious of the previous musics awesomeness. You always want people to like your music, but when it becomes a classic the measuring stick for anything that comes after is set too high, and any attempt to go higher can’t measure up, and any attempt to duplicate it always falls flat, and the only thing left is to change styles which is sort of a gamble with the fans you have. Not that thats what Happend to Mr. Scruff, he still makes dope music… but…you know.

During the recording of the “Megaphone” album they would unwind from a hard days work in the studio, at Headnod’s favorite dive bar (Ye Olde Hut on College ave. in Berkeley CA).  While playing pool, they rambled on about making a remix album using all Radiohead samples (or maybe Bjork).  At that point a random drunk said “Noh yoou neede to usse BJjork…  SHe ROCKS!!!”  That note of wisdom struck Headnod 4 months later on one sleepless night at 4 in the morning.  He went down stairs (to the studio) and did a quick remix for Danger Danger mashing the Megaphone vocals of Moe Pope with her royal Bjork-ness… “wow that’s cool, I think I’ll do another…” he thought.  Then proceeded to remix every Megaphone song in ONE DAY (though that days lasted for 30 hours straight).  In a sleep deprived daze, this entire record was started and finished, with only breaks for frozen pizza and coffee.  “It was effortless… Moe’s soulful lyrics went perfectly With that in mind, put this record on and enjoy it from start to finish as it was intended.  Viva La Bjork, Hip Hop, don’t Stop!!!
